No Work *sigh*

I didn't get to work yesterday :( My husband sold one of his motorcycles to someone out of town so I spent a large part of the day on the road (I picked him up after he delivered the bike). And today just didn't go as planned so I didn't get to do much today either. Oh well, tomorrow is other day.

On another note, since I didn't have anything of my own today, here's a picture of one of my favourite charm bracelets. It was made by jewelry artist Robbie Moriarty. I also have a wonderful Dia de los Muertos necklace and earrings made by her, maybe I'll post those sometime as well.

I'll be contacting people about the charm swap tomorrow.

Bye now.

More Charms

As promised, here are more charms. Hearts this time.

They are all made from translucent clay, colored with alcohol ink. And I really didn't mean to make that one look like it had a bloody stake. Or did I? Me on Polymer Clay Daily (link fixed, oops!). Really it was just a serendipitous accident. The wire embedded heart has a hole at the bottom so something can be dangled from it.

Here are more hearts, not charms, they're pendants.

'Til tomorrow.

Happy International Charm Day!

I have decided to give away five charms to whomever asks. If I get more than five requests I'll do a drawing. If you're interested just comment or drop me an email (link in profile). You have through Friday. If you want to trade a charm, you can do that, too. Same thing, comment or email.

First off, here's the first part of the batch of "voodoo" charms I'm working on. The hearts will be posted later today along with whatever else strikes my fancy.

The teeth charms were inspired by these vintage Black Forest Charms that someone sold on Etsy about 2 1/2 years ago. Yeah, I kept the pictures that long. I have a file titled "Inspiration" where I keep pics of things I find inspiring. Unfortunately, I no longer know who the seller was, but I really love these charms.

And here's a sneak peek at a work in progress that I'm currently working on.

Happy Charm Day!

Check back later!

International Charm Day

Tomorrow is International Charm Day! Or International Handmade Art Charm Day. I didn't even know there was such a thing until a couple of days ago. But how cool! I love charms, so in honor of this holiday I'm making charms to give away or trade. I'm currently working on some voodoo (voodooesque, really) charms and some heart charms and I don't know what else, whatever my muse dictates! Tomorrow I'll post pictures of the charms I'm making. I'll also post pictures of some of my favourite charms.

Here are a couple of pieces of charm jewelry that I wear frequently:

They are charms that I traded my own charms for at ArtFest. If you don't know what ArtFest is, it's an annual mixed media art retreat hosted by Teesha and Tracy Moore at Port Townsend, WA. You can check it out at this link: teeshamoore.com. I've gone three times and I highly recommend it.

Also, a good place to look for more info about International Charm Day is this blog: International Charm Day. Check it out! And don't forget to check back here tomorrow for more charm stuff.

p.s. It's STILL raining. Grrrrrrr!

Tornados and thunderstorms!

I'm really starting to hate the sound of sirens and "Beeeeep! beeeeep! Beeeep! The National weather service has issued a thunderstorm (or tornado, or flash flood) warning for . . . ." We are having our fourth storm in just four days. Three of them have spawned tornadoes. Twice we've had to go to the basement. And it's not over yet, the bad weather's supposed to continue for another three or four days! It makes me feel like this:

Tiny Elements

So I've been in funk the last few days and haven't really got much accomplished. But yesterday I just went to my studio to work even though I wasn't feeling it. Where are you muse? After doing busywork for awhile, I finally decided to just make elements for projects I already had in mind.

These are some of those elements. The little hands are for a little creature I'm planning. I wanted them to look a somewhat skeletal, hence the wire showing through. The coiled wire with translucent is also for the same creature. Maybe a tail?

To give you an idea of how small these these little buttons are, I photographed them (a little blurry :/) with my needle tool. That's an index card they're resting on.

Toodles for now.

New Necklaces

First of all, Im sorry about the lack of updates. I've been sick. Shingles, ugh and ouch! Then it was time to pay the the taxman! I do so hate that whole process. But anyway enough with that. Here are a couple of necklaces I was working on before I got sick. First this spiked heart.

I didn't put spikes on the back, that might be uncomfortable!

Then I made some using some hearts I had previously made that I just hadn't got around to doing anything with. Here's one of them. Side one.

Side two.

What do you think of the rust-colored cord? I can't decide if I like it or not. I'll post another with a black cord in a day or two. Bye for now.
